About Session

Darryl Wright has been a witness to, and a participant in the birth of the Nova Scotia games industry. With 25 years in technology and games, he’s seen the local scene evolve from a handful of pioneers to a global contender. As someone who has worked in indies and large AAA studios as well as being the founder of Punk Science Studios Inc., Darryl lived the high-stakes dream and risk of building a studio from the ground up, only to face the heavy reality of shutting it down.
This isn’t a sanitized corporate retrospective. Instead, Darryl offers the part-autopsy, part-historical drama of his journey, fueled by the gossip and grit of the homegrown game biz. From the early motivations that sparked a studio to the decisions and industry shifts that ended it, he’s laying it all out to inspire the next wave of developers. It’s not just about what happened—it’s about what’s next. Is it time to build again? And how do maritime studios prepare to thrive in the throes of the next industry evolution?
