About Session
This talk looks at why some studios compound their success from release to release while others start from zero every time — using examples like Warframe, Path of Exile, and Monster Hunter alongside cautionary tales like Zynga and Battlefront II.
The discussion breaks this down into five areas studios need to own. Relationships means owning your connection to players instead of routing it entirely through a platform. Commerce is about how small margin and pricing decisions compound over time. Trust is built slowly through hundreds of kept commitments and can be lost in a single decision. Intelligence means understanding who your actual highest-value players are, not just tracking aggregate numbers. And Time doesn’t create strength or weakness on its own — it simply reveals what was already there.
