XP Indie Spotlight: Moonspire Games

Speechbound
Speechbound is an award winning language learning video game developed by Vancouver based edtech-meets-indie studio Moonspire Games. Designed as “Duolingo meets Stardew Valley meets Final Fantasy”, the game blends immersive storytelling, cozy gameplay, and RPG mechanics with real language acquisition.
Players learn vocabulary and grammar naturally through quests, exploration, and mini games tied directly to gameplay.
Speechbound has already been recognized with “Most Innovative Indie Game” and “Best Studio” awards at Game Con Canada, as well as placing #1 in the Rising Tide trailer contest. The team has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring the game to full release on Steam next year, with plans to expand to mobile and consoles afterward.
About the Studio
Moonspire Games is a Vancouver-based edtech indie studio founded by Emmy-winning VFX supervisor Manuel Tausch and art director Philipp Amelung. The studio focuses on creating story-driven games that combine immersive gameplay with real learning outcomes.
Speechbound has been showcased internationally, including at WePlay Expo Shanghai through Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, with upcoming appearances at Web Summit Vancouver, GAME AiCON Korea, and Game Con Canada.
