What Video Game Funding Trends Mean for Teams in 2026

Video game funding trends 2026 are already taking shape. Just this week, Sophie McEvoy at GamesIndustry.biz summarized findings from Matthew Ball’s State of Video Gaming 2026 report noting that global content revenue grew 5.3% in 2025 to $195.6 billion while private funding fell 55% year over year, signaling tighter financing conditions heading into the new year.

With funding down sharply, investors and publishers are prioritizing teams that demonstrate traction, clarity, and disciplined scope.

We see those deals. In 2025, XP Gaming events in Canada generated $52M+ in reported deal value, based on a 10% response rate, and hosted more than 3,000 business meetings across four events.

We’ve seen that in-person, scheduled conversations shorten the path from introduction to decision. Events concentrate that access. Prepared teams move further and those who differentiate move even further.

That’s the role our events are designed to play.
